LESS TIME TO MAKE BALANCED MEALS
How nice would it be to come home to a cooked meal?!?!? My mouth is watering at this thought. I think this is why they invented the CROCKPOT!
Therefore, I finally decided there was a need for a crockpot in my life, especially to avoid making salad or breakfast for dinner, which I have done the past few days. I am a little embarrassed to admit that, but I am doing something about it and have found a GREAT solution!
In order for me to begin mastering the crockpot, I need to use it and use it on a weekly basis. Therefore, I came up with a challenge to make 10 different crockpot dinners in 10 weeks! Who knows I might make more than 10 recipes, but at least I know after 10 weeks I will be more comfortable with my crockpot and I will have meals to come home to during the week!
I will most likely make my weekly meal on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday) to have it ready for dinner on Monday. I will pick one recipe every week depending on the ingredients I already have in my kitchen and what I am in the mood for that week! I hope to make it to the Soulard’s farmers market this Saturday to pick up my ingredients….I am currently in the mood for butternut squash soup or meat and vegetable stew or white chicken chili. I will report to you on Monday what I decided to make and of course show you a picture or two 🙂
In the mean time, I decided to have some fun and make apple butter (with no sugar added) using my apples from apple picking two weekends ago. Since apple butter is not a meal itself, I won’t count it as my one recipe for the week.
My crockpot’s first use 🙂 I can’t wait to see how the apple butter turns out! To be continued……….
